Study Assistant

Describe what you need to learn and Study Assistant turns it into a complete study: a research design, the audience, the questionnaires and AI moderator guides, and a credit estimate for every run. You review each piece, and nothing runs until you approve it.

  • Credits shown up front
  • Connected study setup

Human context, synthetic scale

One study. Every decision in your hands.

Keep the brief, research design, audience, materials and results together instead of setting up disconnected runs. Study Assistant connects the methods your question needs, from surveys to focus groups, while you approve the plan, review the assets and confirm the credits before launch.

Built for iterative research

From brief to results, step by step.

Each step builds on the one before it and waits for your review, so you always know what comes next and what it will cost.

  1. 01

    Brief

Name the study, then describe the objective, the decision it should support and who you want to hear from. Markets, languages, constraints and a credit budget for the design to aim at are optional. An objective alone, or a single brief document, is enough to start.

  2. 02

    Research design

Study Assistant proposes a plan: which research to run, with whom, and why. Accept that exact version, or say what you'd change and get a new proposal. If you edit the brief later, the plan reopens for review.

  3. 03

    Audience

Build the audience each run needs: a respondent pool for synthetic surveys, and a named set of fully profiled personas for interviews, focus groups and evaluations.

  4. 04

    Study materials

Questionnaires and AI moderator guides are generated for you to review, edit or regenerate. Images and videos you added as stimuli are placed on the questions that mention them when you approve a guide.

  5. 05

    Review & launch

Check readiness, the credit estimate for each run and anything that blocks a launch, all recalculated just before you confirm. Runs then launch one at a time and stop at the first problem.

  6. 06

    Report

Follow every run's progress and results in one place, retry a survey that failed, and create a combined study report as soon as one run is ready.

See it in SYMAR.

The Brief step of a UK oat-milk packaging study, with an attached packaging brief whose text has been extracted, a card for materials to test, and the start of the objectives

Start from a brief

Describe the objective, the decision it should support and who you want to hear from. Attach a brief and the assistant fills these in for you to check.

Study Assistant's proposed research design for a UK oat-milk packaging study: a 150-respondent synthetic survey followed by an 8-person automated focus group

A design you can question

Study Assistant proposes which research to run, with whom, and why. Accept that exact version, or say what you'd change and get a new proposal.

The Audience step showing the respondent pool's attributes, from age and gender to occupation, and an approved set of eight named personas, each with age, job and city

An audience for every run

A respondent pool for the survey and a named set of fully profiled personas for the focus group. Each is used only once you approve it.

The review and launch step showing credits spent on setup, the estimate to run, and a 550-credit launch button for a 50-respondent survey

Credits before you commit

Readiness and the credit estimate for every run, recalculated just before you confirm. Each run launches only when you say so.

A combined study report opening with the answer to the study's decision, ahead of its key findings

One report across every run

The answer to your decision first, then findings backed by both the numbers and the conversations, and what to do next.

Built to answer the next question.

Each capability is designed for a living research process: form a hypothesis, inspect the response, then go deeper without rebuilding the study.

Nothing runs until you approve it

The segment, personas, questionnaires and moderator guides each wait for your approval. Launching takes a deliberate confirmation that shows the runs you're starting and the credits they'll use. The assistant never launches anything itself.

Every credit, shown up front

Before each step you see what it will charge, what capacity it needs and anything that blocks it. Run estimates use the same pricing as setting the study up by hand, and retrying the same version is never charged twice.

Seven research types, one plan

Synthetic surveys, automated and moderator-led focus groups, automated interviews, and text, image and video evaluations. Study Assistant can recommend a mix for one study, and each run keeps its own readiness, estimate and results.

Real assets you keep

The segments, personas, questionnaires and AI moderators it creates are normal SYMAR assets. Open them in the full editor, use them in other research, and keep them even if you delete the study.

Your documents shape the design

Upload a brief, a report or a spec as PDF, DOCX or TXT and Study Assistant uses it as context for the plan. Documents are never shown to respondents.

Pick up where you left off

Every study is saved as a draft you can come back to. Generation and launches keep running on our side if you close the tab.

Put Study Assistant to work.

Start with a real decision, not a blank canvas. These are the questions teams bring to Study Assistant most often.

Marketers, product managers and founders who know the business question but not which method answers it. Study Assistant recommends a design and explains why.

Researchers who want the setup done for them: segments, personas, questionnaires and guides built in the right order and connected, ready for an expert review.

Mixed-method studies, such as comparing three packaging concepts with parents in the UK through an image evaluation, a survey and a focus group, all planned and launched from one place.

Good to know.

What is Study Assistant?
Study Assistant is a guided workspace in SYMAR that turns a research brief into a complete study. It proposes the research design, builds the audience and study materials, estimates the credits, and launches the runs once you approve them. An assistant panel alongside answers questions about the study as you work.
Which research types can it plan?
Synthetic surveys, automated focus groups, moderator-led focus groups, automated interviews, and text, image and video evaluations. One study can combine several of them.
Will it launch research without me?
No. Every run needs its assets approved and an explicit confirmation that shows the runs and the credits they'll use. The assistant can't launch research; every launch starts with you.
How do credits work with Study Assistant?
Study Assistant uses your SYMAR credits. Before generating anything it shows what that step will charge, and before launch it shows the estimate for every run. A retry of the same version is never charged twice. See pricing for plans and credit volumes.
Which plans include Study Assistant?
Both plans: SYMAR Project and SYMAR Program. See pricing for what each plan includes.
What happens to the assets it creates?
They're saved as normal SYMAR assets the moment they're created. You can edit them, use them in other research, and they stay in your project even if you delete the study.
Can I add my own documents, images and videos?
Yes. Documents (PDF, DOCX or TXT) give Study Assistant context for the design and are never shown to respondents. Images and videos can be stimuli inside questionnaires and guides, or the subject of an evaluation. Each stimulus needs a short note saying what it is.
